POSITION PURPOSE (Summary)

 

  1. Under the supervision of the Nutrition Services Manager, the Utility Steward will be responsible for.
  2. Maintains—required daily sanitation of the Nutrition Services Department.
  3. Utility Steward at NMCC will be responsible for performing weekly/monthly inventory checks, setting weekly order amounts, and checking in, delivery and rotation of department supplies..
  4. Utility Steward is a full or part-time position that has all of the duties of the Utility Steward at NMCC except for inventory and ordering.

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION/LICENSURE/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

(Education, License / Registration, Experience, Knowledge and Abilities)

  1. Person with or in the process of obtaining a high school diploma or equivalent with the ability to learn and follow written and verbal instructions.
  2. Person must be able to respond in a timely manner to disaster drill activities as per hospital protocol.

 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential job functions:

  1. Maintains required daily sanitation standards within the Nutrition Services department by completing cleaning duties on checklist.
  2. Delivers supplies to storage areas, stocks and rotates case items.
  3. Transports case items, flour and sugar from storage areas to production areas, as necessary.
  4. Assists in performing weekly and monthly inventory of food items.
  5. Cleans and maintains supplies in bathrooms.
  6. Disposes of garbage and trash from supply, stock rotation and kitchen areas.
  7. Performs and/or directs completion of monthly cleaning schedule.
  8. Adjusts daily duties to cover completion of emergency cleaning schedule.
  9. Organizes and cleans storage areas as needed.
  10. Performs any and all jobs as requested or needed.

 

Infrequent/marginal job functions:

  1. Answers phones in accordance with hospital policy.
  2. Sets up chairs and tables for special events.
  3. Delivers food carts to patient care areas.

 

Equipment:  Floor scrubber, buffer, carpet extractor
